Whangārei Living Roof Guide

Zoë Avery co-authored this guide with Renee Davies and contributions from Dr Robyn Simcock which provides advice and technical information relevant to the New Zealand and in particular, Whangārei context for implementation of living roof systems. Zoë and Renee provided landscape architecture, living roof, botanical, ecological and urban design expertise to develop New Zealand’s first comprehensive living roof guide.

The purpose of the guide is to highlight the multitude of economic, social and environmental benefits that these living systems can provide in the unique context of Whangarei region, with a localised plant selector, design considerations, examples and all of the benefits green infrastructure provides.

The Whangārei Living Roof Guide (Pukapuka tātaki ki te mataora tuanui) was awarded the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects Landscape Publication Award 2019.
